Today will mark the 238th Marine Corps Birthday. An organization developed on November 10, 1775 at Tun Tavern located in Philadelphia. It's initial role was to serve as security/infantry aboard Naval vessels. Today, the USMC serves as a expeditionary force-in-readiness deploying all over the world with it's expertise in amphibious warfare.
Marine's develop a strong warrior spirit with an emphasis on camaraderie. This starts during boot camp where strict discipline in enforced along with a never quit attitude. This type of fighting spirit follows them into the FMF (Fleet Marine Force) where it continues to be fostered. During my times in the Marine's I can honestly say that they are some of the best human beings you can be around. I appreciated the brotherhood and the competitive nature. In the book of Proverbs 27:17 it says "As iron sharpens iron, one man sharpens another"- this passage is true in the United State Marine Corps.
Thanks to all current and former Marines for their service. Some of you will be celebrating at Marine Corps Ball's, others may be forward deployed, and some may just sit home and reminisce on their service. Wherever you may be enjoy it Brother's!
Semper Fidelis
